Elm Creek (north of Rice Lake Dam) Shoreline Restoration Project (2016)
Project objective: Restore the exposed slope which was created during power line maintenance by Great River Energy. Great River Energy took the responsibility to replant the area with native grasses in the spring of 2016.

The mix that was used is a MNDOT 250 Blend. It is a mix of native and pasture grasses. It is ideal for erosion control and we use this in most cases where erosion may be an issue. Here is the list of what is in the mix:
  • VNS annual Rye grass
  • Climax timothy
  • VNS creeping red fescue
  • Meadow Brome grass
  • Little Bluestem
  • Indian Grass
  • Blue Grama
  • Kentucky Bluegrass
  • Boreal creeping red fescue
  • Perennial rye grass
  • Alfalfa
  • Medium red clover
